What is a PNG to JPG converter?

This converter decodes a PNG image locally, draws it at its original dimensions on a solid background and encodes it as JPG. Add multiple images, adjust quality or background, and download individual files or all ready results.

PNG vs JPG

PNG supports transparency and lossless image storage. JPG stores a flattened image using lossy compression and does not support transparent pixels. Photos may suit JPG; sharp text, logos and diagrams can show compression artifacts.

Why convert PNG to JPG?

Use JPG when a website requires it or when a photographic PNG is too large. Changing the format does not change the pixel dimensions. Keep the original PNG if you need transparency or exact pixel values.

What happens to transparent PNGs?

JPG does not support transparency. Transparent areas use the selected background: white by default, black or a custom solid color. For example, a transparent logo is composited onto your selected white background before the JPG is encoded; partially transparent edges blend with that same background.

Does converting reduce file size?

Not always. JPG size depends on image detail and quality; a small PNG logo may produce a larger JPG. Compare the actual before and after sizes shown for each file. No savings percentage is guaranteed.

Does JPG reduce image quality?

JPG encoding is lossy, including at the 100% quality setting. Lower quality may make files smaller but can soften details or introduce artifacts. The default is 90%; supported quality is 10% to 100%. Browser encoders can produce different bytes and sizes for the same setting.

Local processing and limits

Your images are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded to isMust. Up to 20 images, 25 MB each and 100 MB per batch are supported, with a 50-megapixel limit per image. Images are processed sequentially; large images can still exceed available browser memory. Downloads preserve dimensions, not necessarily PNG metadata or color-profile information. Clear All or leave the page to release temporary previews and results.

How to use

  1. Drop PNG files or select Browse. Add more files without clearing existing results.
  2. Choose JPG quality and the background for transparent areas; results update automatically.
  3. Download individual JPGs or Download All. Your browser may request permission for multiple downloads.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PNG files uploaded?

No. Conversion runs using your browser’s image decoder and canvas encoder. Custom analytics events contain only file counts, not names or image contents.

Can I keep a transparent background in JPG?

No. JPG cannot store transparency. Choose white, black or a custom solid color, or keep PNG when transparency is needed.

Will conversion always make my image smaller?

No. Compare the measured PNG and JPG sizes. Content and quality settings affect output size.

Does Download All create a ZIP?

No. It starts a separate JPG download for each ready file. Your browser may require permission to download multiple files.

Are filenames and dimensions preserved?

The base name and pixel dimensions are retained. The extension becomes .jpg; duplicate names get a numbered suffix to prevent collisions within the batch.
