Open GIF CompressorChoose the right compressor for your file
Use PNG for screenshots and graphics with transparency, JPEG for photos, GIF for animations, and PDF for documents. Choose by the actual file format rather than renaming its extension. WebP conversion is available in the image tools directory, but it is not a dedicated WebP compression tool.
When should you compress a file?
Compress a copy before sending an email attachment, submitting a document with a size limit or publishing an image on a website. Keep your source file for future edits, and compare the output at its intended viewing size before replacing it.
Smaller size versus quality
Try a moderate setting first. Fine text in screenshots, photo textures and animation colors can react differently to compression. Lossless PNG is a useful starting point when preserving colors matters; Smart mode may achieve a smaller file by reducing colors. For PDFs, image-heavy documents usually offer more opportunities than documents made mostly of text. Always inspect the result: a smaller file is only useful if it remains readable.
Frequently asked questions
Which file formats can I compress?
The available tools support PDF, PNG, JPG/JPEG and GIF. Choose the matching tool above; this page does not upload or process files itself.
Will compression reduce image quality?
It depends on the format and settings. JPEG compression trades some image detail for smaller files. PNG Smart mode reduces colors, while Lossless avoids deliberate color reduction. GIF compression reduces its palette. PDF compression can reduce the quality of embedded images while preserving text and vectors.
Are my files uploaded?
The four compression tools linked here process files in your browser rather than uploading them to isMust. This describes these tools, not a blanket promise about every service on the site. See the Privacy Policy for analytics and browser-storage details.
Why is my file not smaller?
An already optimized file may have little room for reduction. These tools retain the original when the generated file is not smaller. Savings depend on the content and settings; there is no guaranteed compression ratio.
Can I reach a specific attachment size limit?
Compress PDF offers a best-effort Target Size mode. A target is not guaranteed. Check the actual downloaded file size against the receiving service’s limit before sending it.
